We Tested Top Competitors vs. Our Acrylic: The Results Were Shocking

As collectors, we can spend hundreds or thousands of dollars and countless hours hunting for our "grail" cards or sealed items. We grade them, we display them, and we protect them. Or at least... we think we are protecting them.

If you are displaying your TCG collection in a room with windows, sunlight (and even some indoor lighting) is the silent killer. UV radiation breaks down the ink on your cards, causing them to fade and lose value over time.

We founded our business on one principle: Sourcing the highest quality acrylic possible. But we wanted to see how the "other guys" stacked up.

So, we took a calibrated UV Rejection meter to our cases and compared them against some of the most popular, big-name cases on the market.

The results were honestly terrifying.

We tested a case from one of the most recognizable brands in the hobby—the kind you see on every shelf. We assumed it would offer decent protection.

It registered a UV Rejection rate of only 9.5%.

That means 90.5% of harmful UV rays are passing right through the plastic and cooking the card inside. If you leave a card in this case near a window, it isn't "protected." It’s slowly being destroyed.

We tested another common competitor. They fared better, coming in at 87.8%.

While this is an improvement, it still allows over 12% of UV radiation to hit your card. Over a period of years, that exposure adds up. For a card worth hundreds or thousands of dollars, "mostly protected" simply isn't good enough.

Finally, we tested our own premium acrylic cases.

Our cases registered a UV Rejection rate of 99.6%.

This is what "Museum Grade" actually looks like. Our acrylic is chemically engineered to block virtually all harmful ultraviolet light, ensuring that the card inside looks exactly the same ten years from now as it does today.

Why Material Matters

Cheap acrylic is just clear plastic. It offers physical protection against bending or scratching, but it offers almost zero protection against light.

We pay a premium to source high-grade, UV-resistant acrylic because we are collectors first. We know that a sealed Elite Trainer Box of Evolving Skies or your favorite PSA 10 is an investment, and you wouldn't leave a Ferrari parked under a leaky roof.

The Bottom Line

Don't let a cheap case ruin a valuable box or card. Check your setup. If you aren't sure if your cases are UV resistant, you are taking a gamble with your collection.

Upgrade to Dinavio and get the peace of mind that comes with tested and true protection.
